Zara, the fast-fashion giant, has teamed up with Guido Palau, the renowned hairstylist and creative director of Zara Beauty, to launch a new line of sustainable hair products. The line, which debuted in April 2023, features shampoos, conditioners, styling products, and accessories that are designed to enhance the natural beauty of hair while minimizing the environmental impact.
The products are formulated with natural and organic ingredients, such as argan oil, coconut water, and aloe vera, and are free of sulfates, parabens, phthalates, artificial colors, and fragrances. They are also vegan, cruelty-free, and packaged in recyclable or biodegradable materials. The line aims to cater to different hair types, textures, and needs, offering products for hydration, volume, curl definition, color protection, and more.
Guido Palau, who has worked with some of the biggest names in fashion and beauty, such as Alexander McQueen, Marc Jacobs, and Vogue, said that he wanted to create a line that reflects his vision of hair as a form of self-expression and empowerment. “I believe that hair is an extension of our personality and mood, and that we should celebrate its diversity and uniqueness. I wanted to create products that are easy to use, effective, and respectful of the environment, and that can help anyone achieve their desired look,” he said in a press release1.
Zara, which launched its beauty division in May 2021, said that the collaboration with Palau is part of its commitment to sustainability and innovation in the beauty industry. “We are thrilled to partner with Guido Palau, one of the most influential and creative hairstylists in the world, to bring our customers a new line of sustainable hair products. We share his passion for beauty and his vision of hair as a way of expression and identity. We believe that this line will offer our customers a high-quality, affordable, and eco-friendly option to care for their hair,” said Eva Lopez-Lopez, the head of Zara Beauty2.
The line has received positive reviews from critics and consumers alike, who praised its performance, variety, and sustainability. According to a report by NIQ, the line generated over $50 million in sales in its first month, making it one of the most successful launches in the beauty market in 20233. The report also noted that the line reflects some of the key trends in the beauty industry, such as premiumization, personalization, inclusivity, and ingredient-focused4.
The line is available online and in selected Zara stores worldwide, and ranges from $8 to $26. Zara and Palau have also announced that they will be releasing new products and collections in the future, based on customer feedback and market demand.
